WBCS Syllabus 2021

The West Bengal Public Service Commission is in charge of administering the WBCS Exam. The WBCS Exam is divided into three parts: preliminary, mains, and interview. This article will teach you about the WBCS Syllabus and WBCS Exam Pattern for the Prelims and Mains Exams.

  1. The main examination (conventional/essay) can only be taken in Bengali/English.
  2. A deduction of 10% of the total marks obtained by the candidate is imposed if he/she discloses his/her identity by writing his/her roll number/name.

WBCS Syllabus 2021 for Prelims Exam

The WBPCS Prelims Exam takes place at various locations throughout West Bengal’s districts. Darjeeling as a center can only be chosen by the Darjeeling district’s Scheduled Tribes and candidates from three hill divisions: Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik, and Kurseong.

The WBCS Prelims Syllabus is made up of eight subjects or topics. There is 200 total (MCQ). Each topic is worth 25 points. The examination lasts 2.5 hours. The Prelims is only a screening test, and its results are not used to determine the final selection. According to the commission’s notification, the Prelims Exam tests the same level of knowledge as a graduate of any faculty from any recognized university.

WBCS Syllabus 2021 for Mains Exam

Candidates will be selected for the WBCS Mains exam on the basis of their performance in the prelims. The main exam will contain six compulsory papers and one optional subject, comprising two papers. Candidates who pass the WBCS Mains Exam are invited to the “Interview” Round. The WBCS appoints a board to interview candidates. The main areas examined by the interviewer are listed below.

2. The purpose of the interview is for a panel of competent and unbiased observers to assess the candidate’s personal suitability for a career in the state services.
