Ghulam Nabi Azad Slams Rumours Over Changes In His Twitter Profile
Ghulam Nabi Azad Slams Rumours Over Changes In His Twitter Profile: “Some people are spreading mischievous propaganda to confuse,” Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
New Delhi, India Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress leader, has slammed reports that he changed his Twitter bio after receiving the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian honor, calling it “mischievous propaganda.”
“Some people are spreading deceptive propaganda to confuse. Nothing has been changed or removed from my Twitter profile. The profile is still the same as it was before “Ghulam Nabi Azad took to Twitter on Tuesday.
Mr. Azad is a member of the Congress’s “G-23,” which wrote to Sonia Gandhi in 2020, calling for significant reforms in the organization as well as “visible and full-time leadership.” Since then, he has been the target of Gandhi’s family loyalists within the party, and he has been accused of growing closeness to the ruling BJP.
Mr. Azad was slammed after being named for the Padma award by his Congress colleague Jairam Ramesh, who drew a parallel with the CPM’s Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and tweeted: “That’s the right thing to do. He aspires to be Azad, not Ghulam.”
Mr Ramesh has also tweeted a passage from a book about former bureaucrat PN Haskar’s refusal of the award.

“Some people are spreading deceptive propaganda to confuse. Nothing has been changed or removed from my Twitter profile. The profile is still the same as it was before “Azad posted a tweet.
Azad has been a target of Gandhi’s family loyalists since he led the group of 23 leaders (G-23) after writing a strongly worded letter to Sonia Gandhi seeking sweeping party reforms.
As Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated in a cryptic tweet, Azad’s inclusion on the Padma award list elicited mixed reactions from party colleagues “Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee declined. Padma Bhushan award, saying, “Right thing to do.” He aspires to be Azad, not Ghulam.”
Ramesh also tweeted a book excerpt about former bureaucrat PN Haskar’s refusal of the award.
“In January 1973, our country’s most influential civil servant was informed that he would be awarded the Padma Vibhushan upon leaving the PMO. Here’s what PN Haksar had to say about it. It is a classic that deserves to be emulated. “His caption said:
Meanwhile, another Congress leader, Raj Babbar, congratulated Azad on his selection for the award, saying that his “commitment to Gandhian ideals has always been an inspiration.”
“@ghulamnazad Sahab, congratulations! You’re like an older brother, and your impeccable public life and dedication to Gandhian ideals have always served as an inspiration. The #PadmaBhushan is a fitting tribute to your five decades of dedicated service to the country, “Babbar posted a tweet.
