KKR was generous enough to cover the extra baggage: Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik was employed as a commentator for Sky Sports during his stay in the UK.
Veteran wicketkeeper and batsman Dinesh Karthik may be out from the National Cricket team for a while. However, he was an absolute delight to cricket fans by his commentary skills over the past few months. The cricketer of the year made his first appearance as a commentary at the World Test Championship final between New Zealand in India in June. Karthik did not take long to become a popular choice for fans due to his exact analysis and witty remarks were hailed as a refreshing breath’.
Apart from his impressive performance with the microphone, Dinesh Karthik also bagged an amount of attention for his fashionable attire. When he was first introduced to commentary in England, the stylish batsman was seen in various outfits and gave fashion-forward goals to the fans. In the same vein, his fellow commentator, ex- England captain Michael Atherton stated that the Indian cricketer had 17 suitcases in the UK.
Even though Karthik tweeted that he did not have so many suitcases, the 36-year-old was carrying a lot of baggage. In the same vein, Karthik revealed his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), needed to cover the cost of the excess baggage. To make matters worse, Karthik flew straight from England to UAE for the second match in the IPL 2021.
I really enjoy being part of the group: Dinesh Karthik.
“KKR was generous enough to cover the baggage that was not needed, which was a great and respectful thing done by KKR (smiles at being asked about how he carried all his luggage back to England). It was a wonderful experience to visit here, and I’m enjoying my time with the other boys,” Karthik told Star Sports ahead of KKR’s match in Abu Dhabi against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.
Karthik has also spoken out about his relationship with KKR captain Eoin Morgan. The two of us (him as well as Eoin Morgan) have developed a great relationship. He will ask me to clarify a few questions during overs, he asks me which direction we’re heading in, and I offer my thoughts, and then he decides to take the call that he’s confident with. There’s a good bonding between captains and vice-captains. Also, the sync is great,” he added.
However, KKR endured a horrendous performance in the opening phase of IPL 2021. They only won 2 of the seven matches. However, they began the UAE phase on a spectacular note, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets in their opening match. They’d want to extend their dazzling record against MI.
